I hope you are enjoying your summer; pre-season has already begun for many of our teams and it is great to see all the hard work that is being put in to prepare for the coming season.
You should hopefully be aware that the club has been working on a project to offer more floodlit pitches and training areas to our players/members. Our current training lights are very dated and do not fulfill our needs now we have growing player numbers. More floodlights mean we will be able to offer more training spaces with a better standard of lighting and help us to achieve our goal of more people playing more enjoyable rugby.
The committee is pleased to announce that - after much hard work from numerous individuals - the club has the secured planning permission and funding required to be able to deliver the proposed floodlight project detailed in our last newsletter. Thanks to financial support from the RFU, Sport England and The Medlock Trust we can now go ahead and start the work of erecting our new floodlights. We will be installing lights over two of our pitches with ‘back-lighting’ to a training area in-between. Works will start on Monday 5th August and the current expected completion date is Friday 23rd August.
During the construction phase we will be unable to use our pitches on the ‘other side of the ditch’ but plans have been put into place to ensure our O2 Touch sessions, and pre-season preparations for our senior men, senior women and juniors can continue and leave us best prepared for the coming season. We have booked use of the Boston Grammar School field for some of our sessions, and we thank the school for their help and co-operation in this matter.
The sessions that will be held at BGS are:
Tuesday 6th, 13th & 20th Aug
O2 touch: 6:30-7:30pm
Men’s Senior Training: 7:30-9:00pm
Women’s Senior Training: 7:30-9:00pm
Wednesday 7th, 14th & 21st Aug
U14 Training: 6:30-8:00pm
